The Deb's Tennis Score Book Story

For Deb Kranovich, tennis has been a life long family affair that began with her father, who taught all of his children the game. That family passion then came full circle: she was the coach, and her father the assistant to a state title-holding high school team at the same school where her father played tennis as a youth. Deb’s tennis resume? Chock full of accomplishments. She played competitively in high school and college, and began coaching as a graduate assistant in the 1970s. She served as an assistant high school coach for several years before being named head coach at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA. There, she led the Rough Riders to more than 15 state titles – including boys and girls singles, doubles and co-ed. In 2002, her team swept the boys singles, doubles and team state competition, only the second time in the state’s history a team recorded such a feat, making Deb the only female coach to achieve this Triple Crown.

Tennis Score Book is Born

In her 27 years leading the boys and girls varsity and JV programs at Roosevelt High School, Deb was named Conference Coach of the Year 25 times, CIML Tennis Coach, and a Top 6 Finalist for the National Coach of the Year.

So, why the score book? One year, inexplicably, the book Deb had relied on to record key team data dropped out of existence. She searched in vain for several years for another resource, to no avail. In 1988, it struck her – she’d design her own tennis score book for other high school coaches to use. Countless hours developing content and designing the book, in collaboration with her husband and with her father serving as an advisor, has resulted in the book Deb set out to create – a complete and easy-to-use resource for recording high school season matches, tournament play and individual records.

The Future

Thousands of books later, Deb has retired from coaching but her love and passion for Tennis Score Book continues. In 2017, Deb and husband, Stan, passed on the Tennis Score Book ownership torch.

In 2020, to commemorate the 20th year of the book, the book's name was changed from Tennis Score Book to Deb's Tennis Score Book, in honor of founder, Deb Kranovich. It's the same great book you've trusted for two decades, with a new fresh new look! 

Deb's Tennis Score Book is now marketed and manufactured by The Brand Canyon in Surprise, Arizona with the same high quality Deb Kranovich developed twenty years ago.
